‘All of Us Strangers’
Look, sometimes you just need a good cry, and right now, there’s no better movie to put on if you want to feel your feelings than All of Us Strangers. The romantic drama is now streaming on Hulu after a short theatrical run last year. I found that All of Us Strangers is best experienced when you know as little as possible going in, but trailers for the movie briefly outline a plot — writer Adam (Andrew Scott) is able to spend time with his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell) despite the fact that they both died suddenly in a car accident 30 years prior. At the same time, Adam is growing closer to his cute, mysterious neighbor Harry (Paul Mescal). All four actors featured in this film are all giving career-best performances with this challenging and heartbreaking material, but to me, a scene between Bell and Scott about halfway through the movie is the major standout. All of Us Strangers is beautiful, devastating, haunting, and cathartic all at once — and it’ll stick with you for a long time after the credits roll.
