Episode 5 of FX’s FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans — the second installment in Ryan Murphy’s FEUD anthology — took us back to November 1975 to witness the day after the Esquire article was published.
As Truman Capote (Tom Hollander) entered a deeply dark time, he received a visit from friend and fellow writer James Baldwin (Chris Chalk), struggled with sobriety, and started writing again. The episode ended with Capote feasting on a literal swan that was snatched from Central Park in the dead of night and prepared by an aspiring chef, so we can only imagine where Episode 6 will take us.
Based on Laurence Leamer’s bestselling book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era, FEUD Season 2 follows writer Truman Capote (Hollander) and his once tight-knit group of friends and socialites, “the swans.” After Capote sparks an epic feud by publishing damning personal details of his pals Barbara “Babe” Paley (Naomi Watts), Slim Keith (Diane Lane), C.Z. Guest (Chloë Sevigny), and Lee Radziwill’s (Calista Flockhart) in the aforementioned article, the series chronicles the intense aftermath of their fallout.
