Rebecca Ferguson Once Told “Idiot” Mystery Co-Star To “F Off” After They Screamed At Her On Set: “No One Had My Back”

Dune star Rebecca Ferguson gave internet sleuths some juicy intel when she opened up about an emotional moment she had working on a previous film with an unnamed star she described as “an absolute idiot.”

In a recent interview on Reign With Josh Smith: The Podcast, Ferguson candidly recalled the time she had to stand up for herself after her co-star — who was “number one on the call sheet” — yelled at her on set.

“I did a film with an absolute idiot of a co-star, and this human being was being so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get their scenes out,” she recalled. “And I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed at. And I would cry walking off set.”

She continued, “This person would literally look at me in front of the whole crew and say, ‘You call yourself an actor?! This is what I have to work with. What is this?!'”

The actress was careful not to reveal the title of the film, nor did she hint at the co-star’s name or gender. But she did recall feeling like she had “no safety net” on set because it was the top-billed star on the project.

“I remember the next day I walked on and I said, ‘You get off my set.’ It’s the first time I’ve ever spoken, I remember being so scared,” she recalled. “And I looked at this person and said, ‘You can F off, I’m going to work towards a tennis ball. I never want to see you again.'”

Ferguson added that the producers later came to speak to her, where they said, “‘You can’t do this to number one, we have to let this person be on set.'” She recalled, “And I said, ‘But the person can turn around and I can act to the back [of their] head.’ And I did.”

She appeared emotional even as she recounted the story: “I was so scared, I feel it now as I’m saying it. But from that moment I have never let myself get to the point where I’ve got home and I’ve gone, ‘Why did that happen?'” she said.

She specifically noted that it was not Hugh Jackman, whom she starred alongside in The Greatest Showman, nor was it her Mission: Impossible co-star Tom Cruise.

The interview has now gone viral, prompting plenty of theories about who Ferguson could be talking about. Dwayne Johnson actually responded to a clip of the interview in defense of his former Hercules co-star, most likely cutting himself out of the running.

“Hate seeing this but love seeing her stand up to bullshit. Rebecca was my guardian angel sent from heaven on our set. I love that woman. I’d like to find out who did this,” he wrote on X.

We can also cut out the possibility that it’s her Dune co-star Timothee Chalamet, as she later went on to praise the young actor.

For now, it seems that the options have been narrowed down to Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Grant, or Ewan McGregor — we’re pretty confident about ruling out Jacob Tremblay from the list.
