The Sopranos actress Drea de Matteo recently opened up about her decision to join OnlyFans, revealing that she chose join the subscription platform after finding herself in a difficult financial situation.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, de Matteo said, “It saved us. OnlyFans saved my life, 100 percent. I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it really did save us.”

The actress revealed that she only had $10 in her bank account when she decided to make an OnlyFans account in August 2023. But within five minutes of joining, she claims she was able to save her home from foreclosure.

“They put me into foreclosure and my house had flooded, so I was trying to sell the house quickly,” she said. “I wanted to try and sell it before they took it. At the same time, I lost my mom, and my other mom, who has dementia, had run out of money for her caregiver. I didn’t know which way was up.”

“I was like, holy shit,” she recalled. “In five minutes, I was able to pay back Compass real estate who kept the sale of my house.”

She also confessed that she originally “didn’t want to do it.” De Matteo has previously claimed that she joined OnlyFans because she was having trouble getting booked for jobs after she refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

“I got a lot of heat for doing it and it went fucking viral and people went nuts,” she said of her popular account.

De Matteo later admitted that she originally planned to host a podcast with her husband on the platform, but she’s found new empowerment in the photos she’s sharing with her subscribers.

“I mean, the original premise to open the OnlyFans was Robbie and I were gonna do a podcast on there that was controversial. We wanted to put it behind a paywall so to not be destroyed in the media for it,” the Desperate Housewives star said. “That was what it was going to be originally, you know, like with him rubbing my feet because you have to add a little something for OnlyFans in there.”

The actress also used some of her earnings to launch a streetwear brand called ULTRAFREE inspired by her 12-year-old son.

For now, it appears that the actress has no plans of leaving the platform. She even shared the unique diet plan she uses to prepare for her photoshoots: “Spaghetti and pasta and steak.”

“We’re just carb loading. I’m just being an Italian lady in the world,” she said. “You want your boobs to be big and your butt to be big. Otherwise, the photos are a snooze fest!”
