‘Live’s Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Recall Wendy Williams Breaking The News Of Their Elopement On Her Radio Show After They Tried To Keep Their Wedding Secret
Mark Consuelos is not only Kelly Ripa‘s husband and co-host. He’s also her “best project.”
On Live with Kelly and Mark this morning, the co-host couple made the stark realization that their last date took place “30 years ago.”
Ripa exclaimed, “Isn’t that nuts?”
While Consuelos suggested that they “should do something about that,” Ripa took their chat in a different and darker direction.
“If something happened to either one of us, like let’s say — OK, I know you like this game, ‘when I pass away first’ — OK, so I pass away,” she quipped. “Tell me about how would you go about dating. How would you find a date?”
Consuelos quipped that he “thought about this backstage,” and explained that he would take “a year of mourning,” during which he would wear all black “like the old ladies in Sicily or southern Italy.”
“And then I would do what any self-respecting man would do,” he continued. “I would go to church and meet a nice lady at church.”
As Consuelos looked up at the ceiling and moved from side to side, Ripa joked, “He’s waiting for God to strike him dead.”

She then requested his “age brackets,” which he initially vaguely summed up as “obviously an appropriate age.”
“There’s a formulation,” he clarified. “It’s your age, divided by two, plus seven. So that would be 26 plus seven, so 33 would be the youngest I could go.”
Ripa clapped back, “I think you wouldn’t even know what to do with a 33[-year-old].”
As for what Ripa would do if Consuelos “went first,” she eventually claimed that she “would never date again,” initially eliciting some “awws” from the studio audience.
“No, no, don’t aww,” she clarified. “I’m just too finicky.”
Noting that she would wear black tights and a black skirt “much like” her usual attire, she highlighted that she’s “too comfortable,” “too finicky,” and “unwilling at this point to change one aspect of the way [she] live[s].”
“I’ve had three kids, there’s too much to explain,” she said. “I’m not in the business of explaining what went wrong to some new guy.”
Eager to chime in, Consuelos joked, “On this season’s The Golden Bachelorette!”
After she, Consuelos, and the audience cracked up, Ripa argued that it would be “the fastest series ABC ever had,” and would only “be one episode.”
“As the limousine is rolling to a — the car just needs to slow down and I’ll be like, ‘Next! Next! Next!'” she said. “No, no, thank you. Are you kidding me? Uh-uh. See you later. Goodbye!”
Consuelos replied, “You’re too tired to train another one. You trained me so well. I’m housebroken!”
Ripa agreed, telling Consuelos, “You are my best project I’ve ever done.”
