NHL All-Star Weekend 2024 Schedule: How to Watch and Stream, Times, Rosters

The NHL season is just over halfway done, which means it’s time for All-Star Weekend!

The All-Star Game Weekend kicks off on February 1, and will have a slightly different look to last year’s weekend with a redesigned skills competition and, for the first time since 2015, a fantasy-style draft where team captains will pick their teams, rather than organize the teams by division.

The game will keep the same 3-on-3 format that it’s used since 2016. Two semifinals and a final will be played, each consisting of two ten-minute periods.

Every part of the three-day All-Star Weekend will stream live on ESPN+, but you’ll be able to catch most of the action on cable as well.

When and Where is the NHL All-Star Game Weekend?

The 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend will take place from February 1-3 in Toronto, Canada. The Toronto Maple Leafs are serving as the host team.

Schedule of Events:

  • Thursday, February 1 at 6 p.m. ET – NHL All-Star Player Draft (ESPN2, ESPN+)
  • Thursday, February 1 at 7 p.m. ET – NHL Alumni Man of the Year and PWHL 3-on-3 Showcase (ESPN+)
  • Friday, February 2 at 7 p.m. ET – NHL All-Star Skills Competition (ESPN, ESPN+)
  • Saturday, February 3 at 3 p.m. ET – NHL All-Star Game (ABC, ESPN+)

How to Watch and Stream:

The easiest way to watch the NHL All-Star Weekend is with an ESPN+ subscription. The player draft, skills competition, and game will all be broadcast live on the streaming service, which costs $10.99/month.

2024 NHL All-Star Rosters:

The four teams at this year’s All-Star game are:

  • Team Matthews: Auston Matthews and Morgan Reilly (Toronto Maple Leafs) with celebrity co-captain Justin Bieber
  • Team Mackinnon: Nathan Mackinnon and Cale Makar (Colorado Avalanche) with celebrity co-captain Tate McRae
  • Team McDavid: Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton Oilers) with celebrity co-captain Will Arnett
  • Team Hughes: brothers Quinn (Vancouver Canucks) and Jack (New Jersey Devils) Hughes, Elias Petterson (Canucks) with celebrity co-captain Michael Bublé

Connor Bedard (Chicago Blackhawks), Jack Eichel (Vegas Golden Knights), and Jack Hughes (New Jersey Devils) were all chosen as all-stars, but withdrew due to injuries; Hughes will still attend the weekend to co-captain a team with his brother.

2024 NHL All-Star Skills Competition Format:

This year, the All-Star Skills Competition got a format shake-up. Instead of including every all-star in the events, only 12 will get a chance to compete for a first-place prize of $1 million.

The 12 players selected for Skills this year are David Pastrnak, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid, Mat Barzal (replacing an injured Jack Hughes), Nikita Kucherov, Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes and J.T. Miller.

Each player will participate in four of the following six events to earn points: Fastest Skater, Hardest Shot, Stick Handling, One Timers, Passing Challenge, and Accuracy Shooting.

Following that round, the top eight will advance to a one-on-one shootout, and six will advance from there to a final obstacle course. The player with the most points at the end will win the cash prize.
