Powered by Reelgood

This week’s new movies on VOD include the critical darling The Iron Claw, which has earned Zac Efron numerous accolades for his portrayal of wrestler Kevin von Erlich, as well as the Jenna Ortega film Miller’s Girl, in which Ortega plays a high school student who tries to seduce her teacher.

There’s also the arrival of the George Clooney-directed biographical sports drama The Boys In The Boat, based on Daniel James Brown’s 2013 book of the same name. In the film, Joel Edgerton stars as the coach of the 1936 University of Washington rowing team, who compete for a gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. It’s a quintessential underdog story made even more poignant because it’s true.

These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.

The Iron Claw

The critically lauded A24 film The Iron Claw stars Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, and Harris Dickinson as the Von Erich brothers, whose real ascent in the world of wrestling was full of triumph and tragedy. Despite their successes in the ring, a family “curse” that sees the deaths of several of the men in the family, hangs above them, looming like a dark cloud over their wrestling legacy.

Miller’s Girl

Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman star in Miller’s Girl, the story of a high school student’s (Ortega) attempt to write a college essay about an important life experience, so she sets out to seduce the English teacher (Freeman) helping her with the assignment and use that as fodder for her essay. The film has drawn controversy for its sex scene and subject matter, now that its out, you can see what the fuss is about.
