Che Diaz is bidding farewell to And Just Like That… ahead of its third season.

In the wake of rumors that Sara Ramírez‘s character would not be returning to Max‘s Sex and the City spinoff, the chatter has seemingly been confirmed by Variety.

During their unforgettable time on the series, Che, a nonbinary stand-up comic, collaborated with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), and eventually sparked a romance with Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), causing Miranda to leave her husband Steve (David Eigenberg).

Various sources informed Variety that “the Che character had reached a natural conclusion,” citing the end of Che’s “relationship with Miranda.”

Representatives for Max declined comment when reached by Decider.

However, sources noted that scripts for Season 3 are still in the works, and that this news may not preclude a future Che appearance, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Variety‘s report comes after buzz last month that Che was on the outs at AJLT. A Daily Mail report alleged the character “brought nothing to the show anymore,” and that “they were on the chopping block since last season.”

Nonetheless, this intel opposes previous allegations from The Daily Mail that Ramírez had been fired from the show due to their pro-Palestinian stance, which the outlet reported in ealy January. Ramírez has been vocal on their Instagram, slamming the “duplicitous” entertainment industry amid the crisis in the Middle East in a Jan. 16 post. However, they eventually clarified that their post “had and has nothing to do with my past work contracts.”

Ramírez then posted Jan. 17, where they urged people to not “let tabloids distract you from what’s going on in Gaza,” per Deadline. “Really nice try though,” they added.

And Just Like That received a Season 3 renewal just two days prior to its Season 2 finale, and the new installment is slated for a 2025 release, per Deadline.

Seasons 1 and 2 of And Just Like That are now streaming on Max.
