If you loved Mark Ruffalo in Poor Things, you’re in good company: Willem Dafoe was so entertained by his costar, that he had difficulty controlling his bladder.

In an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip, which you can watch on Decider by unmuting the video at the top of this page, Dafoe fondly recalls cracking up on set at Ruffalo’s antics.

“We would play around and do exercises and physical stuff to create this ensemble, and Mark was so funny, I was always in the danger of pissing my pants,” Dafoe says in the clip with a laugh. In a bit of inspired editing, a snippet of the scene where Ruffalo’s character, Duncan, asks to use Dafoe’s bathroom, immediately follows that interview with Dafoe.

The clip comes from the bonus featurette title “Possessing Beauty,” which will be available tomorrow with the Poor Things digital release. Starting tomorrow, February 27, you’ll be to purchase Poor Things on digital platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, and Vudu. The movie will also be released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 12. In addition to the “Possessing Beauty” featurette, the Poor Things digital release will include three deleted scenes, titled “Brothel Doctor,” “Alfie’s Chapter,” and “Bella’s Notebook.”

Written and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, Poor Things stars Emma Stone as a formerly-dead woman, Bella, who’s been resurrected by a mad scientist (Dafoe) with the brain of an infant child. Ruffalo stars as the rakish lawyer named Duncan, who sweeps Bella off her feet, and shows her the world. But it doesn’t take long for Bella to outgrow Duncan’s tiresome nature.

“He sells himself as an anarchist, but of course, Duncan is this raging narcissist,” Ruffalo explains in the above clip.

Stone agreed and added that Ruffalo’s performance—which earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 2024 Oscars—was “brilliant casting on Yorgos’s part, because I don’t think you would expect to see someone as soulful and sensitive as Mark play this type of person. And he does it so brilliantly.”

You will be able to buy Poor Things on digital beginning tomorrow, February 27.
