Below Deck star Barbie Pascual made a splash during her debut appearance on Watch What Happens Live, where she seemingly shaded Andy Cohen for casting Monica Garcia on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

The “savage” comment came after Cohen asked the yachtie how it made her feel to hear bosun Jared Woodin tell chief stew Fraser Olender that “everyone wants a piece of Barbie” on Monday night’s (Feb. 26) episode of the Bravo reality show.

“I think he’s right,” Pascual said with a giggle.

Her bold response sounded awfully reminiscent of some other types of Bravo personalities, according to Cohen.

“Have you ever thought about being a Real Housewife?” he asked, to which Pascual admitted, “It’s my dream! Are you hiring? I don’t know if I have the funds.”

While Cohen pointed out that she currently lives “on a boat,” Pascual reminded him that he has made more shocking casting decisions for Real Housewives shows in the past.

“I mean after Reality Von Tease, I feel like anybody can really…,” she shaded, referring to the bombshell reveal that Garcia — who will not be returning for Season 5 — helped run an Instagram account created to expose the cast of RHOSLC.

The live audience roared at the comment, while Cohen’s mouth dropped open in shock.

“Oh! Savage! Wow. Oh, my god,” he said. “Read for filth on my own show.”

During a 2021 episode of the Watch What Happens Live: After Show, Cohen revealed that he is still very much a part of the hiring and firing process when it comes to Bravo shows.

“The hiring is a collective group,” Cohen said. “And the firing is a collective group. So it is a group conversation.”

The Bravo boss went more into detail on the casting process during a 2018 Q&A session at the Tribeca TV Festival.

“It’s usually a conversation,” he reiterated, per RealityBlurb. “At the end of every season, we talk to the women about what they have coming up and whether they want to come back. What they see for the future. Then we also look at the show and say, ‘How do we want to change the show?'”

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
