It’s barely been over a week since JLo released her fever dream movie, This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, on Amazon, but she’s already back again with another Amazon movie: a new Jennifer Lopez documentary, titled The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

Directed by Jason Bergh, The Greatest Love Story Never Told is an 86-minute behind-the-scene look at Lopez’s self-funded journey to turn an ambitious dream of a “cinematic narrative” for her new album into a reality. It certainly wasn’t easy. As the documentary reveals, the project was already cast and rehearsal had already begun, when the unnamed studio set to fund the project backed out. Unable to find any other studio to step up, Lopez decided to foot the bill herself. It was just the first in a long list of setbacks Lopez and her team face—including difficulty getting celebrities to say yes to a cameo appearance. We hear in the film Taylor Swift, Khloe Kardashian, and Anthony Ramos all said no. And though Black-ish and Sister Act star Jenifer Lewis said yes, she wasn’t entirely happy about it.

In the funniest scene in the documentary, the naturally hilarious 67-year-old Lewis shows up to This Is Me… Now: A Love Story set and demands to know, “Where’s that god damn Jennifer Lopez? Is she here? I’m gonna slice that bitch if she weren’t here!” She goes on to gripe, “Calling me down here to do a cameo. Bitch! I’m the star.”

Lewis is joking, sure, but it’s the kind of joke where you get the feeling she’s also kind of serious. Later, in a talking head interview for the making-of doc, Lewis doubles down. “My agent called me: ‘Jennifer Lopez is doing a music video,’ I said, ‘OK, what does that have to do with me?'” Lewis tells the camera frankly. “I don’t do music videos. I’m Jeninfer Lewis, got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Why would I show up for a music video, even if it is JLo?! I’m JLew!’”

Lewis’s role in This Is Me Now is as the Gemini twins on the Zodiac Council, a sort of Greek chorus that offers unsolicited opinions and judgment as Lopez’s character navigates her troubled love life. The entire council is celebrity cameos, including Post Malone as Leo, Jane Fonda as Sagittarius, Trevor Noah as Libra, Kim Petras as Virgo, Keke Palmer as Scorpio, Sofía Vergara as Cancer, Jay Shetty as Aries, Neil DeGrasse Tyson as Taurus, and Sadhguru as Pisces. Clearly, casting Lewis as the witty and opinionated Gemini was the right move.
