Robbie Amell shed some light on the perks of having an older lookalike cousin on this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Robbie and Stephen Amell, his relative and Code 8: Part II co-star, stopped by co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos‘ morning show, where Ripa brought up that they “both grew up in Toronto.”

“And you were cousins who like each other, which I always make a distinction,” she teased. “There are cousins who like each other, and cousins who do not like each other. You’re cousins who like each other.”

Stephen chimed in to quip, “So far.”

Robbie explained that they “were really close when [they] were young,” but highlighted their seven-year age difference.

“So there was a bit of a gap where like, you know, you’re 15 and you’re eight, you don’t really hang out,” he continued.

Ripa asked, “Did you look up to him? Did you want to do everything he was doing?”

Robbie confirmed that he did, telling Ripa that he “wanted to be Steve real bad” when he was a kid.

Consuelos was curious as to whether their age difference did “come in handy later on,” which in Robbie’s case, it did — “big time.”

“For me, not as much for him,” he clarified. “Well, I got his ID when I was 15. So, I was 15 pretending to be 22. And you knew I wasn’t 22, but it was a real ID and it scanned.”

Later on, Robbie provided some context for viewers ahead of he and Stephen’s upcoming Code 8 sequel, which hits Netflix on Wednesday (Feb. 28) and resumes five years after the original.

“In our world, 4% of people have some kind of abnormal ability, but they aren’t superheroes,” he shared. “Most of them live under the poverty line, they’re just trying to get by. And Stephen’s character introduces me to the criminal underworld of using your powers.”

Ripa likened the on-screen dynamic between their characters to when Stephen “introduced [Robbie] to the criminal element of using a fake ID.”

Stephen replied, “That’s exactly right,” as Ripa joked, “It’s like going back.”

“It’s like full circle moments for your family!” she added.
