Need a movie to watch tonight? We got you covered. Check out the 2023 slasher movie Thanksgiving, starring Patrick Dempsey, Nell Verlaque, and Addison Rae.

Directed by Eli RothThanksgiving takes place in a small town in Massachusetts that’s being threatened by a killer disguised a John Carver mask around Thanksgiving after a disastrous event occurred on Black Friday the year prior, which resulted in multiple deaths.

The deadly incident was provoked by a group of rowdy teenagers comprised of Verlaque as Jessica, Rae as Gaby, Jalen Thomas Brooks as Bobby, Tomaso Sanelli as Evan, Gabriel Davenport as Scuba, and Jenna Warren as Yulia. Dempsey joins the cast as local sheriff Eric Newlon, who takes lead in the investigation.

The horror flick offers some serious teen drama and kill shots as the killer begins to target the teens, and they grow skeptical of everybody around them.

If the teens are unable to trust their parents or the local authorities, who can they trust? And just because there’s a killer tormenting them, doesn’t mean their love triangles go away.

Thanksgiving makes room for a few surprise performance, particularly Rae and Dempsey, who demonstrate a new range of talent. The TikTok influencer-turned-actor steals a scene or two in the movie, and Dempsey shakes off his McDreamy vibes in his portrayal of a coolheaded cop at his wit’s end.

Why Watch Thanksgiving Tonight?

Upon its Nov. 17, 2023 release, Thanksgiving was a sneaky box office success. The movie finished fourth in the box office, underneath The Marvels‘ second week and above the fourth week of Five Nights at Freddy‘s, per Deadline. Now, the movie is bound to get a new wind as it has found a home on Netflix, being added to the catalogue on Feb. 17, 2024.

That gives people plenty of time to watch the popular flick before the sequel comes out in 2025, which Roth has teased will be “better” than the first. “We want to out-do ourselves, make it better than the first one,” he said in a statement.
