Chris Christie is back at The View. The Republican politician — who has become such a presence on the daytime talk show that Whoopi Goldberg joked about him being a co-host — stopped by to promote his new book, and got in some digs at former president Donald Trump along the way.

Christie, who was running for president himself before dropping out of the race in January, warned The View of what could happen if Trump locks in a victory at the polls this November. The former New Jersey governor previously endorsed Trump in 2016 and even helped him prep for presidential debates and led Trump’s transition team as he took over the White House, per The New York Times. But he’s since changed his tune and has issued multiple ominous warnings about what a second Trump term could bring.

While appearing on The View today, Christie said nobody will keep Trump in check if he wins this time around, while also pointing to another key difference between 2016 Trump and 2024 Trump.

“When he became president in 2017, he was scared to death of the presidency. Scared,” Christie claimed. “What he was afraid of most was screwing up. He will have no such fear this time.”

When Sara Haines questioned, “He came in worrying about that?” Christie confirmed, “He did,” adding, “He didn’t want to make a fool of himself. Look, for someone who personal vanity is everything — personal vanity and what people write about him, say about him is the way he judges himself…”

Joy Behar then cut in to add, “His fear of failure is intense,” which Christie fully endorsed, exclaiming, “Of course! Because he knows he’s not good. So, he just doesn’t want anyone else to find out.”

Goldberg, who had been mostly silent for the chat, piped up to shout, “Too late!” as Haines joked, “Secret’s out.”

Goldberg then echoed her co-host, repeating, “Too late, everybody knows, dude. Everybody knows.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
