Joy Behar seemingly hinted that she had a “chippy on the side” that led to her divorce from her first husband on this morning’s episode of The View.

The comedian made the confession during a Hot Topics segment in which the panel discussed model Jodie Turner-Smith‘s divorce from Dawson’s Creek star Joshua Jackson, which she said she doesn’t view as a “failure.”

“She says it simply didn’t work out, and as long as a couple does what’s healthiest for the family and the kids, just appreciate that you shared a beautiful moment together,” Whoopi Goldberg explained. “Well done, girl.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin admitted she had never ended a relationship as amicably as Turner-Smith had, before Behar chimed in with her take on divorce.

“If there’s no restraining order involved, I think it’s a success. If there’s a restraining order, maybe we can say it was a failure,” she joked. “Most marriages end because people grow apart or there’s some chippy on the side. Those are the two reasons.”

When Hostin asked if the comedian had a “chippy on the side” when it came to her experience with divorce, she first said, “No. I don’t know,” before giving a more vague (albeit telling) reply when she said, “Who knows? Who cares?”

According to the longtime co-host, she wouldn’t be where she is today if she had stayed married to her first husband.

“I don’t think that I’d be sitting here if I stayed married,” she said. “We had many things that we didn’t — he wanted to live at the beach, I hate the beach. You have geographical differences, you have taste differences. You’re growing in this way and he’s growing in that way.”

While Behar said she wouldn’t recommend divorce because “it’s very painful” and “the children suffer,” she doubled down that leaving her ex-husband was the best decision for her career.

“In my own case, I wouldn’t have a comedy career,” she said. “I don’t think I would’ve had a career in the same way if I stayed married because I was accompanying him in his life.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
